Job Description

The IT & Telecom division is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to join our ServiceNow team in IT & Telecom division. The ServiceNow Developer's primary responsibilities include providing technical solutions and custom application development within the ServiceNow environment. Candidate must have a strong understanding of software development and core ServiceNow Platform capabilities. This individual needs to have a solution-driven mindset to best work through the deliverables around the needs of the agency. Excellent communication, documentation and technical skills are extremely important for this individual to be successful! Major Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Planning, Designing, developing, or configuring, and rolling out new applications and maintaining deployed production solutions.
  • Engage with internal business units to gather functional and technical requirements for enhancement of current production solutions or for new SaaS solution/Custom Application Solutions following agile or waterfall methodology.
  • Conduct workshops for requirements gathering and document current state through Use Cases, Functional, design and technical documentation etc.
  • Provide SME on the ServiceNow platform and ITIL v3/v4 expertise to the leadership team.
  • Provide and identify new capabilities and opportunities for platform roadmaps.
  • Provide administration for all ServiceNow instances and servers. Provide technical support for ServiceNow related incidents.
  • Create integrations and process automation using API and data integration processes between ServiceNow and other services.
  • Create and maintain Service Catalog Items and Knowledge Bases.
  • Contribute to the NYC DOT ServiceNow Knowledge base through well written articles.
  • Work with other IT team members and other key client stakeholders within IT and the business units and provide clear communication for non-technical users.
  • Provide training to end users through different training process based on end users.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or

  2. A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of satisfactory experience in any of the areas described in “1” above; or

  3. Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2”, above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in “2” above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) credits from an accredited college or graduate school in cyber security, network security, computer science, computer programming, computer engineering, information technology, information science, information systems management, network administration, or a pertinent scientific, technical or related area; or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Ability to work individually or with a team. - Experience supporting the customization, administration, and configuration of the ServiceNow tool. - Experience with documentation software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Jira, PowerPoint, Visio). - Experience with HTML5, CSS, AngularJS, JavaScript, Web Services, Jelly, and Glide APIs. - Configuration/customization experience on the platform. - Experience with Automated Testing Framework. - Protocol: TCP/IP, Ethernet, FTP, SSH, T1, Firewalls. - Experienced with SQL. - Hands on experience building and using APIs in the ServiceNow platform. - Experience with RDBMS tools and data modeling. - Experience with Discovery, Orchestration, Service Mapping tools in ServiceNow platform. - Prior experience with integrating ServiceNow to other applications and ability to adapt existing methods and procedures to create possible solutions to complex problems. - Work with external non-full-time staff and manage their time accordingly and maintain good working relationship. - Strong communications skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language.
