ServiceNow Configuration Manager UK Remote West London 6+ Month Contract inside IR35 Rate Approx £550pd to Umbrella

ServiceNow Configuration Manager - Our international client is looking for someone with strong Service Configuration Management experience with the ServiceNow Platform. Looking for someone from a good background as a configuration analyst who has moved in to the Configuration Manager role. You must have strong technical hands on experience with ServiceNOW including good understanding of the ServiceNow CMDB and DataModel (CSDM), setup, configuration etc. You must be able to identify and troubleshoot when things are wrong, able to update CMDB, deal with escalated tickets etc . Experience with Horizontal Discovery and understanding of service mapping. This role requires independent thinking, strong communication skills, confident dealing with senior stakeholders as well as rolling up your sleeves to troubleshoot and manage issues. Strong knowledge and understanding of ITIL... (ideally foundation qualified).

This role is UK based but can be hybrid or mainly remote. Ideally looking to start within a month. This role is inside IR35 with umbrella pay being up to £550pd inclusive of paid holiday etc. Must have the right to work in the UK and be UK based.6 month contract with long term extensions.

Role will be joining the The Service Configuration Management (SCM) team who are accountable for the creation and operation of all SCM related processes across the company and as such the team is divided into three key areas. These are:

  • Reactive SCM: The core BAU activities, responding to requests to update the CMDB or onboard new services.
  • Proactive SCM: Identifying errors or gaps in SCM data within the CMDB and resolving them.
  • ITOM Visibility: The deployment and operation of ITOM Visibility, both horizontal discovery and Service Mapping.

Roles & Responsibilities: As a Configuration Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) by ensuring that all Configuration Items (CIs) are effectively managed.

Your daily responsibilities :

  • Plan, manage and control the process of managing data within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure the accuracy and integrity in support of IT service management processes.
  • Conduct data quality analysis, provide recommendations to address data quality issues, and institute data management plans to provide accuracy of CI's across all classes:
  • Oversee and manage the operation of the SACM Data Governance Process
  • Oversee and manage the operation of the SACM Recertification Process
  • Oversee and manage the operation of the Discovery tool reconciliation process.
  • Manage SACM Analysts, identify, plan, schedule and monitor SACM analyst BAU duties and tasks.
  • Work with Change Management to identify unapproved CI changes or alterations in the environment or in the CMDB.
  • Assist with development of CMDB training guides and product documentation and process integration.
  • Participate in Configuration Management, Change Management and Release Management process evaluations.
  • Act as advisor for structural changes to the CMDB.
  • Define and implement CI data input methodologies including external systems integrations, manual data entry, data imports and data transformation mapping, ServiceNow Discovery and other data sources to maintain the CMDB.
  • Define and implement access privilege process for the CMDB.
  • CMDB Product Management:
  • Leverage automated CI data tools including ServiceNow Discovery to lessen manual data entry, tedious, human error workload.
  • Reconcile CMDB data exceptions between CMDB, ServiceNow Discovery information, imports and other authoritative production data repositories.
  • Work with various stakeholders and CI data owners to ensure the quality of the CMDB data is maintained and all CIs are up to date
  • Work closely with Enterprise Asset Management team to ensure asset data integrity.
  • Manage user stories in support of new functionality or to correct noted defects.
  • Ensure timely story release management, working with ServiceNow platform management team and QA.

Accountability: The Configuration Manager is accountable for the Governance, operation and day-to-day management of the Enterprise Configuration Management Process and acts as the escalation point for the business users. The Configuration Manager is accountable directly for core process deliverables. This role is both operationally and strategically focused.

Required Skills & Experience A candidate aspiring to join us as a SACM Configuration Manager will confidently be able to demonstrate the following skills: Core Skills:

  • Prior experience (2 to 3 years) in configuration management, asset management, or related roles using ServiceNow.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL and IT service management principles.
  • Proficiency in using CMDB tool (ServiceNow) and understanding ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
  • Horizontal discovery experience in relation to ITOM
  • SACM (Service Asset and Configuration Management) with ServiceNow
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and address data quality issues.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components, including hardware, software, and networking.
  • Effective team management and organisational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective presentation skills; ability to communicate well at different levels within the organisation.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply solid business judgement to solve business problems within the SACM Process
  • Technical capability to work with the Change / Configuration Management System
  • High-level understanding of CI Data Owner technologies and application support processes.
  • Good understanding of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process framework
  • In-depth knowledge of the Configuration Management process and how it fits with other ITSM processes in the environment.
