Location: Harrisburg, PA Position Type: Hybrid Hybrid Schedule: 2 days onsite a week Contract Length: 1 year

Position Overview:

The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ServiceNow applications and integrations in collaboration with ITSM personnel, business stakeholders, and technical teams across the Office of Administration. This role involves customizing ITSM modules, building workflows and automations, and supporting Agile development efforts to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

Duties:

  • Design, develop, and implement ServiceNow applications and system integrations.
  • Customize core ITSM applications, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and CMDB.
  • Develop and maintain custom applications and modules using ServiceNow Studio.
  • Create workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies/actions, and automated tasks.
  • Integrate ServiceNow with third-party tools using REST/SOAP APIs and MID Server.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to gather, clarify, and validate requirements.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and performance analytics widgets.
  • Perform code reviews, conduct unit testing, and ensure code quality and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation on configurations, customizations, and system architecture.
  • Document all development work for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development cycles and sprints.

Required Skills:

  • 5 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Glide API, and ServiceNow scripting best practices.
  • Experience with ITSM and at least one additional ServiceNow module (e.g., ITOM, HRSD, SPM, Source2Pay).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).

Preferred Skills:

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS – ITSM, HRSD, Discovery).
  • Experience with Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Exposure to ServiceNow App Engine and Flow Designer.
  • Understanding of CMDB and Discovery.
  • Knowledge of Employee Service Portal and custom widget development.
