We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to lead the implementation of Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and related solutions on the ServiceNow platform in a hybrid support model for our public sector partner.
Position Overview:
The Senior ServiceNow Developer will work directly with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to configure and implement Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) modules on the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will be experienced in aligning platform functionality with governance and planning requirements while adhering to out-of-the-box capabilities for long-term upgradeability. This role also involves data integration, dashboard configuration, and future planning enablement.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Configuration & Implementation
- Implement and configure Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) modules including Demand, Project, and Resource Management.
- Configure intake forms, assessment workflows, scoring models, demand states, and project templates.
- Enable Planning Console, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), cost plans, time tracking, and performance reporting.
- Build and maintain resource plans, assign roles, and configure availability/utilization metrics.
Integration & Data Strategy
- Align SPM configurations with the CMDB, ITSM, APM, and other ServiceNow modules.
- Support legacy data migration and integration strategy for Microsoft Project Online.
- Ensure seamless platform upgradeability by maintaining alignment with ServiceNow best practices.
Analytics & Reporting
- Configure Performance Analytics dashboards and role-based views for PMO, executives, and delivery teams.
- Translate business governance and reporting needs into actionable platform configurations.
Enablement & Documentation
- Prepare platform for future enablement of Portfolio Workbench, Scenario Planning, Innovation Funnel, and Strategic Planning modules.
- Deliver clear documentation, end-user training, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of ServiceNow development experience, with strong platform knowledge and scripting skills.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SPM (formerly ITBM), especially Demand, Project, and Resource modules.
- Proficient in scripting languages used in ServiceNow (JavaScript, Jelly, AngularJS).
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems via APIs and web services.
- Solid understanding of CMDB relationships, ITSM, and APM integrations.
- Familiarity with Performance Analytics, automated workflow design, and Agile/SAFe project methodologies.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and governance-oriented configuration design.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail in complex enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – SPM
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments
Clearance Requirement:
- Candidate must be able to pass a background check.
