Position Overview:

We are seeking a ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Architect to lead the design, governance, and strategic implementation of SAM Pro solutions within a DoD environment. This role is responsible for setting the technical direction for SAM, aligning ServiceNow capabilities with organizational compliance, financial, and operational goals. The Architect will partner with stakeholders across procurement, security, and IT operations to ensure ServiceNow SAM solutions are optimized, scalable, and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the architecture and roadmap for ServiceNow SAM Pro and related ITAM solutions.
  • Define and enforce SAM best practices, governance standards, and technical design principles.
  • Lead workshops and requirements sessions with stakeholders to shape SAM and ITAM strategy.
  • Architect integrations with procurement, CMDB, financial, and discovery systems using IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers.
  • Design entitlement reconciliation processes, software normalization strategies, and compliance reporting frameworks.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to developers and administrators configuring SAM tables (Software Models, Entitlements, Installations, Usage).
  • Establish automated license reclamation, harvesting, and optimization workflows.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure alignment with DoD acquisition and asset management requirements (e.g., DFARS, NIST
  • Deliver technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational playbooks.
  • Guide platform upgrades and migrations with a focus on SAM and ITAM module integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of ServiceNow experience, including 3+ years architecting ITAM/SAM Pro solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of software licensing models (per-user, device, core-based, SaaS, perpetual, subscription) and vendor audit processes.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow platform architecture, including Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, APIs, and advanced scripting (JavaScript/Glide).
  • Demonstrated experience designing complex integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems.
  • Ability to translate business, compliance, and financial requirements into scalable technical architectures.

Preferred Skills:

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required.
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM) strongly preferred.
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Master Architect track a plus.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB reconciliation, and ITOM modules.
  • Familiarity with DoD contracting, DFARS, and NIST compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.

Salary Range:

  • The final salary can be influenced by a variety of factors, such as Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, educational background, and certifications.
