Join us in shaping the future of data streaming platforms. As a Principal Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, architecting, and building out our secure, multi-tenant, polyglot, Cloud-native Compute substrate to enable new business opportunities across Confluent Cloud.

This role requires a senior technical leader who can think strategically and drive end-to-end technical delivery from customer experience to scaling internal operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Driving the overall technical charter for the new Compute Platform
• Collaborating with product management and engineering management to build and drive the overall roadmap for Confluent's Compute Platform
• Delivering high impact to the business by driving important technical initiatives in areas comprising security, reliability, multi-tenancy, architectural direction, and major component refactor across organizational boundaries
• Representing engineering as a strong technical leader across the Compute organization

We are looking for an exceptional individual with a proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, highly available, low latency, high quality systems. Key qualifications include:

• 12 years of experience in delivering scalable software solutions
• Proven expertise in hyper-scale distributed systems engineering
• Deep understanding of multi-cluster / multi-tenant Kubernetes, Language Runtimes / VMs, Container & Virtualization/Hypervisor technologies
• Experience in driving operational excellence for large, production services
• Track record of providing technical leadership and mentorship
