Role Overview

Client is expanding its ServiceNow security capability and is seeking a ServiceNow Security Access / Platform Architect to help design and implement a robust access and entitlement model. This is a newly created role, supporting a growing initiative focused on overhauling the ServiceNow security module and establishing best-in-class access controls based on least privilege principles.

This role offers the opportunity to build a security access framework from the ground up, rather than maintaining or enhancing a pre-existing model.

Current Initiatives / Projects

• Overhauling the ServiceNow Security module
• Planning and configuring access models, roles, and personas
• Design and administering least-privilege access controls
• Supporting future growth as the team expands to include additional analysts

Key Responsibilities

• Administer security access across the ServiceNow platform
• Design and manage:
• Security groups, roles, and personas
• Access Control Lists (ACLs)
• Entitlements and data protection policies
• Configure and maintain:
• Vault product
• “Break-the-glass” access
• Test and exception user accounts
• Partner with Service Owners to:
• Understand access and security requirements
• Translating business needs into technical configurations
• Develop and present security access designs for stakeholder review and approval
• Collaborate with analysts, product teams, and platform crews

Technical Skills (Required)

• Strong experience administering ServiceNow security and access
• Role-based access control (RBAC)
• ServiceNow ACL development
• Familiarity with Oracle Identity Manager
• Scripting experience for access controls (JavaScript-like syntax)

Soft Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong requirement-gathering and translation skills
• Presentation skills to clearly explain designs and security decisions
• Collaborative, analytical, and problem-solving mindset

Industry / Background

• Security access management
• System administration and identity/access management (IAM)

Education / Certifications

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator – Preferred
• 2–6 years of relevant experience

Team & Environment

• Small but growing team (currently one analyst)

Interview Process

• Pre-screen Interview – 30 minutes (Hiring Manager)
• Technical Interview – 1 hour (Two team members)

Role Explanation (Simple Terms)

This role is for a ServiceNow expert who focuses on who gets access to what inside the platform. Instead of just maintaining existing security rules, the person in this role will design the entire access framework, making sure users have only the access they truly need.

You’ll work closely with business owners to understand requirements, translate them into secure technical configurations, and present your designs for approval. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, solving complex access challenges, and influencing platform security strategy.
