We are looking for an experienced ServiceNow Software Development Lead to become part of our internal service center group within the Digital Modernization Sector. This role will focus on supporting ServiceNow self-hosted/on-prem implementations and best practices for our Federal Government clients. The lead will also provide ServiceNow subject matter expertise for proposals and potential growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role involves hands-on development work as part of a team, including management and solutions architecture responsibilities.
  • Work primarily on-site, with full-time availability unless otherwise directed by Leadership.
  • Be available for mission-critical support outside regular hours in a 24/7 environment.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, best practices, and procedures in a DoD setting and in ServiceNow.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to the ServiceNow development team, including setting coding standards and performing code reviews.
  • Act as the primary developer for complex features and integrations, mentoring team members across all levels.
  • Offer technical guidance on ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) modules.
  • Configure and maintain Discovery to classify infrastructure and Service Mapping to visually represent business services and IT components.
  • Manage all technical aspects of a self-hosted ServiceNow instance, including upgrades, patching, and performance maintenance.
  • Proactively resolve routine issues and be prepared to tackle unforeseen challenges outside business hours.
  • Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to manage the self-hosted environment effectively.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and provide ongoing technical expertise during the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the development of documentation for ServiceNow functionality and procedures.
  • Adapt to changing work requirements and exercise discretion when necessary.
  • Create business process maps using standard methodologies, supporting systems engineering documentation.
  • Work independently and within a team while keeping leadership informed of progress and challenges.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with APIs related to ServiceNow implementations.
  • Represent the team in meetings with clients and stakeholders, creating necessary presentations and documents.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships across teams and the Program Management Office.

The ideal candidate will adapt to client needs, support the implementation of the ServiceNow roadmap, and communicate effectively with internal and external teams to deliver the implementation that meets our customers' requirements.

Clearance Required:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Willingness to complete an eligibility investigation after starting.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading teams or projects.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with IT security protocols.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on development experience on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Proven experience managing self-hosted ServiceNow instances with knowledge of underlying infrastructure components.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for system administration and security hardening.
  • Expertise in MariaDB for database management, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure for managing self-hosted components is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with ServiceNow ITOM Visibility package, including Discovery and Service Mapping.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols to diagnose connectivity issues.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Certifications such as ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) are advantageous.
  • Understanding of ITIL concepts as applied within ServiceNow.
  • Previous experience in a similar managerial or technical role.
  • Knowledge of Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and maintaining an accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ITAM modules, particularly Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
  • Experience with Department of Defense programs.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, ServiceNow, JIRA, CompTIA, Microsoft Azure) are a plus.
