Senior ServiceNow Solutions Lead

The Senior ServiceNow Solutions Lead is the enterprise technical authority responsible for architecture, engineering design, and platform governance across ServiceNow App Engine, Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Workplace Service Delivery (WSD), and related enterprise modules.

This role designs scalable, secure, and upgrade-safe solutions supporting enterprise workflow automation, portfolio governance, HR case lifecycle management, facilities operations, and custom application modernization initiatives.

The individual leads cross-module architecture, integration strategy, data model governance, DevSecOps alignment, and compliance engineering in complex environments (e.g., DoD, FedRAMP Moderate/High, IL5).

The position is both strategic and hands-on, requiring deep platform engineering expertise, advanced scripting capability, and experience designing enterprise-grade workflow ecosystems. Technical Responsibilities

Enterprise Platform Architecture Design and maintain multi-instance ServiceNow architecture (Dev/Test/Prod) with strict configuration management. Define domain separation strategies and cross-domain data governance models. Architect CMDB data model, CI class hierarchy, identification and reconciliation rules (IRE), and Service Graph connectors. Design ITOM architecture including Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, and Operational Intelligence. Establish upgrade-safe architecture minimizing technical debt and custom code conflicts. Advanced Integration Engineering

Architect bi-directional integrations using: REST/SOAP APIs MID Servers (hardened and segmented) IntegrationHub spokes Azure/AWS services LDAP / SAML / OAuth / Okta / ADFS Implement message queue and event-driven integration patterns. Design secure API authentication and token management workflows. Optimize data ingestion pipelines and transform maps for high-volume environments. DevSecOps & CI/CD Governance Architect update set strategy and Source Control (Git) integration.

Implement CI/CD pipelines using: ServiceNow ATF Jenkins / Azure DevOps Automated code scanning Static security testing Enforce code review standards, peer validation, and branching strategy. Align development lifecycle with Agile/Scrum and SAFe methodologies. Security & Compliance Engineering Implement RBAC model using ACLs, data separation, and scoped applications. Support ATO artifact development and control inheritance mapping. Configure logging, audit controls, and continuous monitoring integrations. Ensure encryption standards (at rest and in transit) align with IL5/FedRAMP Moderate/High. Support STIG hardening validation and vulnerability remediation workflows. Performance & Platform Optimization Conduct node-level performance diagnostics and slow query analysis. Optimize GlideRecord usage and server-side scripting patterns. Architect index strategies and database optimization. Implement caching strategies and asynchronous processing. Lead upgrade readiness assessments and remediation planning. Data Architecture & CMDB Governance Define authoritative data sources. Architect reconciliation rules and data certification workflows. Design normalization patterns and asset lifecycle management. Integrate external discovery tools (e.g., Tanium, SCCM, AWS Config, Azure Resource Graph). Custom Application Development

Architect Scoped Applications Using

Script Includes Business Rules Flow Designer UI Builder Service Portal / Workspace Develop reusable components and enterprise design libraries. Enforce secure coding practices and script isolation.

Requirements

Minimum 10+ years overall IT experience. 7+ years hands-on ServiceNow engineering and architecture experience. 3+ years leading enterprise-scale ServiceNow implementations (5,000+ users or multi-module deployments).

Demonstrated experience in: App Engine Strategic Portfolio Management Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) Workspace Service Delivery (WSD) Experience supporting DoD, DHS, or other regulated federal environments strongly preferred.
