The Application Development & Maintenance team is crucial for configuring and coding to develop, improve, and sustain our software systems in a collaborative environment. Working closely with colleagues across different functions, the team addresses internal needs and elevates externally-facing business initiatives.
Role Overview: ServiceNow Data (CMDB & Discovery) Administrator/Developer: This pivotal position is responsible for managing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Discovery processes on the ServiceNow platform. You will be a vital member of the Application Development & Maintenance team, focusing on integrations, operational excellence, and data integrity, while also enhancing system capabilities. Your operational duties will include overseeing the daily management of CMDB and Discovery functions to ensure seamless operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Effectiveness: Manage ServiceNow Data incidents, defects, and tasks in alignment with established service level agreements (SLAs). Conduct daily health checks on the CMDB and Discovery data, monitor jobs, data loads, and mid servers, and address data errors through effective corrective actions.
- Discovery Configuration: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in configuring and fine-tuning ServiceNow Discovery patterns and schedules, accurately identifying and mapping IT infrastructure and services while minimizing CMDB gaps.
- Create and maintain schedules and patterns for enhanced operational efficiency.
- Integration and Development: Lead projects, providing updates on progress. Develop and integrate ServiceNow with external systems to enrich CMDB data, utilizing REST and SOAP APIs, and other web services. Focus on automating data import processes, synchronization, and necessary de-customizations to maintain current information. Timely implementation of new service graph connectors and plugin upgrades is essential.
- Data Integrity and Quality: Establish and uphold rigorous data governance and quality standards within the CMDB, ensuring data integrity and reliability to support operational and decision-making processes.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Employ ServiceNow reporting and analytics tools to create valuable data reports and dashboards, aiding IT and business stakeholders in informed decision-making.
- Continuous Improvements: Collaborate in sprint planning and execution, advocating for and implementing enhancements to boost data quality, process efficiency, and overall performance.
- Collaboration: Engage constructively within a cross-functional team environment, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders across IT and business units. Mentor less experienced colleagues to foster growth and development within the team.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience with at least 4 years of hands-on experience in CMDB and Discovery preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a related field. An advanced degree may be desirable.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies, paired with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery processes, data modeling, and ITSM practices, alongside familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). Proficient in scripting and automation within ServiceNow (JavaScript, Unix shell scripting, Windows scripting, PowerShell, Perl, Python).
- Integration Skills: Solid grasp of service graph connectors, various data sources, and experience with APIs (REST, SOAP).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to generate actionable insights from data.
Preferred Certifications:
- ServiceNow Fundamentals
- ServiceNow Discovery Fundamentals
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Discovery
- Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Fundamentals
- ITILv4 Foundations
- Cloud GCP/AWS certification is a plus.

Salary Information: Anticipated salary range is $93,900 - $135,600. Note that this does not include bonus eligibility.
