Job Details: Position Type: Direct HireStart: As Soon As PossiblePay / Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 Job Summary: The ServiceNow Engineering Lead will own and evolve a mission-critical specialty claims platform built on top of ServiceNow. This role is designed for an engineering leader with deep platform, integration, and data expertise rather than a traditional ServiceNow administrator. The platform supports high-volume transactional processing, complex workflows, and deep integrations across policy administration systems, financial platforms, and enterprise data environments. The Engineering Lead will establish architectural direction, enforce technical standards, and remain hands-on with engineering design and code when required.

Key Responsibilities: Platform Architecture & Engineering Ownership

Own the end-to-end architecture of a highly customized ServiceNow-based claims platform supporting specialty insurance programs.Lead the design and evolution of claims data models, workflows, and automation to ensure scalability, maintainability, and transaction integrity.Use ServiceNow CSM and App Engine as extensible platforms to implement complex claims capabilities beyond out-of-the-box solutions.Establish engineering standards, customization guidelines, and architectural patterns across the platform.Make architectural decisions balancing customization, performance, maintainability, and long-term platform health in a regulated environment. Hands-On Engineering Leadership (Player/Coach)

Act as a hands-on engineering leader capable of authoring and reviewing custom ServiceNow code including JavaScript, Script Includes, Business Rules, and UI logic.Lead and mentor internal engineers while governing delivery performed by the Software Integrator (SI).Review and approve technical designs to ensure alignment with platform standards and architectural direction.Drive reuse through shared frameworks, components, and engineering patterns. Integration & Data Platform Leadership

Architect enterprise integrations using ServiceNow Integration Hub, including custom actions and orchestration flows.Design and govern real-time transactional integrations and batch-based data pipelines.Lead integrations with policy administration systems, financial platforms, and enterprise data warehouse environments.Apply enterprise integration patterns including event-driven architectures and synchronous vs asynchronous processing.Ensure integrations meet requirements for transaction integrity, auditability, and operational resilience. SDLC, Production Support & Operational Excellence

Own the ServiceNow SDLC, including environment strategy, testing, release management, and deployment practices.Define and manage the production support model for a mission-critical claims platform.Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and operations teams on monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.Ensure platform reliability, performance, availability, and operational readiness. Product & Business Partnership

Partner with product management and business leaders to define platform roadmap, backlog priorities, and delivery strategies.Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.Serve as the final technical authority for claims platform engineering decisions. Required Experience: 10 years of software engineering experience including enterprise platform or large-scale system development.Experience leading heavily customized ServiceNow environments with extensive scripting and platform customization.Experience delivering custom-built solutions using ServiceNow CSM, App Engine, and Integration Hub.Experience designing enterprise integration patterns including APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed data systems.Experience managing platform SDLC, technical standards, and production operations.Strong leadership and communication skills to guide internal engineering teams and external integration partners. Nice-to-Have Experience: Experience within financial services environments.Experience working with insurance platforms or claims processing systems.Experience building highly customized transactional enterprise platforms.
