Maximus is on the lookout for a highly skilled ServiceNow Technical Lead to provide top-level technical leadership and engage in hands-on development across the enterprise ServiceNow platform, specifically supporting Aidvantage and the Federal Student Aid portfolio. This role is ideal for an accomplished ServiceNow professional who can effectively balance strategic architecture with impactful development.

This position consists of approximately 75% hands-on development and 25% strategic platform architecture, solution design, and technical governance. You will be responsible for establishing architectural standards, mentoring and guiding developers, and delivering critical, business-essential functionality that ensures scalable and high-quality implementations.

As a pivotal technical authority, your collaboration with stakeholders, clients, and development teams will be essential in translating business and ITSM/ITIL requirements into robust ServiceNow solutions. Your role will significantly influence maintaining platform health, ensuring readiness for upgrades, and promoting long-term architectural alignment across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, CMDB, and App Engine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee and collaborate with developers to design, develop, test, and implement critical functionalities and proof of concepts. Partner with clients to strategize and develop effective frameworks. Architect and design application solutions that meet business needs. Guide and mentor developers throughout the development process. Provide direct support for hands-on development tasks. Design software components based on business requirements. Document and diagram application functionalities derived from business requirements. Technical Architect Responsibilities (~25%):

Own the complete platform architecture across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, CMDB, and App Engine. Define and maintain technical standards, design patterns, and architectural guardrails. Translate business needs and ITSM/ITIL requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions. Review and approve solution designs, data models, integrations, and custom application architectures. Act as the final technical escalation point for intricate platform decisions. Evaluate new ServiceNow capabilities and recommend their adoption aligned with platform health and roadmap. Work closely with stakeholders to formulate architectural strategies and implementation frameworks. Create and maintain architecture diagrams, design artifacts, and technical documentation. Mentor and lead fellow developers. Lead Developer Responsibilities (~75%):

Engage in hands-on JavaScript development encompassing Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, and Flow Designer logic. Lead the development of complex or high-risk components. Build and support custom applications utilizing ServiceNow App Engine. Review, refactor, and optimize developer code for architectural alignment and performance efficiencies. Assist with proof of concepts, upgrade remediation efforts, and the resolution of complex defects. Program-Specific Responsibilities:

Lead requirements analysis and gap assessments for enterprise implementations. Design deployment strategies in accordance with ITSM and ITIL frameworks. Offer architectural oversight for integrations and data flows. Ensure upgrade readiness through thorough regression planning and technical validations. Maintain audit-ready technical documentation. Support Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) governance and drive continuous improvement across the platform. Required Experience:

7+ years in enterprise IT environments. 2+ years focusing on ServiceNow architecture and implementation leadership. Demonstrated success leading large-scale ServiceNow implementations and system upgrades. Extensive knowledge across ITOM, ITAM, SPM, GRC, and CMDB. Strong proficiency in both server-side and client-side JavaScript. Required Certifications:

ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA). One or more ServiceNow Implementation Specialist certifications. Additional Requirements as per contract/client:

High School Diploma or GED is required. Must be a U.S. resident. U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to pass a criminal background check is mandatory. Must not be delinquent or in default on any federal student loans. Employment and ongoing employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable clearance. The final suitability determination rests solely with the Department of Education/Federal Student Aid. Obtaining and maintaining a PIV-I card is essential for this position, and this must be done in person. Both new and existing employees may need to travel to collect their PIV-I card, and Maximus will cover any related travel expenses. Home Office Requirements:

A hardwired internet (ethernet) connection is required. An internet download speed of 25mbps or higher is necessary. A private workspace and adequate power source are mandatory. Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field. 7-10 years of relevant professional experience required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000
